Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke yesterday in an 8-minute speech. He explained that the conflict had reached global proportions with the use of Western cruise missiles against Russian territory. He reserves the right to a “mirrored response” to any aggression, for example with the new (nuclear-capable) Oreshnik missile system, which cannot be intercepted by the West due to its high speed. System media trivialize or conceal this speech.
First of all: You can find the original of the speech here. This link distinguishes our work from that of the system media, which - if at all - only presents small excerpts and wants to keep their readers away from original sources. There you will find supervised thinking, with us as much information as possible.
We have translated this speech into German using our modest means. On November 21, 2024, Vladimir Putin said:
I would like to inform the members of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the citizens of our country, our friends around the world, as well as those who continue to harbor illusions about the possibility of a strategic victory over Russia, about the events currently taking place in the area of the special military operation - in particular after the use of long-range weapons of Western production against our territory.
The United States and its NATO allies have previously said they authorize the use of their long-range precision weapons against the territory of the Russian Federation. Experts know - and the Russian side has repeatedly emphasized this - that the use of such weapons is impossible without the direct participation of military specialists from the producing nations.
On November 19, six US-made ATACMS missiles were used, and on November 21, Storm Shadow (UK) and HIMARS (USA) systems were used in a combined missile attack against military objects on Russian territory in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Since that moment, as we have repeatedly emphasized, the regional conflict in Ukraine provoked by the West has assumed global proportions. Our air defense systems repelled these attacks and the objectives clearly intended by the enemy were not achieved.
The fire at an ammunition depot in the Bryansk region, caused by falling rocket debris, has been extinguished. There are no casualties or significant damage. In the Kursk region, an attack was carried out on one of the command posts of our group “North”. Unfortunately, there were casualties and injuries among members of the external security units and maintenance personnel. The management and operational crew of the command post remained intact and continue to carry out the planned leadership of our troops to expel enemy units from the Kursk region.
I would like to emphasize once again that the use of such weapons by the enemy cannot influence the course of fighting in the area of the special military operation. Our troops are successfully advancing along the entire line of contact. All the goals we have set for ourselves will be achieved.
In response to the use of long-range weapons from the USA and Great Britain on November 21 this year, the Russian armed forces carried out a combined strike against an object of the Ukrainian defense industry. One of our newest medium-range missile systems was tested under combat conditions - in this case a ballistic missile with nuclear-free hypersonic equipment. Our rocket engineers call them “Oreschnik” (hazel bush). The tests were successful and the target was hit. In the city of Dniepropetrovsk in Ukraine, one of the largest and best-known industrial plants from Soviet times, which still produces rocket and other weapons technology today, was destroyed.
The development of medium- and short-range missiles comes in response to US plans to produce and deploy such missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. We consider it a mistake that the USA unilaterally terminated the medium- and short-range missile ban treaty in 2019 under a false pretext. Today, the United States not only produces such technologies, but also practices their deployment to various regions of the world, including Europe, as well as their use in wartime conditions.
I remind you that Russia has voluntarily and unilaterally committed not to deploy medium- and short-range missiles until similar American weapons are stationed anywhere in the world.
I repeat: the tests of the Oreshnik missile system in combat conditions are carried out in response to the aggressive actions of NATO countries against Russia. The question of further deployment of such missiles will be decided by us depending on the actions of the USA and its satellites.
The targets for future tests of our newest missile systems will be selected in accordance with the threat to the security of the Russian Federation. We reserve the right to use our weapons against military objects of those countries that allow the use of their weapons against our objects. Should the aggression escalate, we will react just as decisively and in a mirror image. This is something that the ruling elites of countries planning to use their troops against Russia should seriously consider.
Of course, if necessary and as part of countermeasures, we will ask civilians and citizens of friendly states in advance to leave dangerous areas. This is done for humanitarian reasons - openly, publicly and without fear of obstruction by the enemy who also receives this information.
Why without fear? Because there are currently no means to counteract such weapons. The missiles attack their targets at a speed of 10 Mach - that's 2.5 to 3 kilometers per second. The existing modern air defense systems and the missile defense systems developed by the Americans in Europe cannot intercept such missiles - that is out of the question.
I emphasize again: It is not Russia, but the USA that has destroyed the international security order and, clinging to its hegemony, is driving the world into a global conflict.
We have always preferred, and continue to do so now, to resolve all controversial issues peacefully. However, we are also prepared for any development.
Anyone who still doubts this is mistaken - there will always be an answer.
This is what the ORF is doing with this speech
The Austrian public broadcaster ORF, which is financed with compulsory fees, shortened the speech to three sentences. Under the title “ Putin threatens to launch rocket strikes against Kiev supporters ” we learn that Putin said: “We consider ourselves within the right to use our weapons against military objects of countries that allow their weapons to be used against objects in our country. In the event of an escalation of aggressive actions, we will act resolutely in a mirror image. We have repeatedly emphasized that the regional conflict in Ukraine provoked by the West has taken on elements of a global character.”
The news was pretty much hidden in ORF Online's offering and is not worth a headline. A 76-second contribution is available as a video, in which another sentence is quoted: “I recommend that the ruling elites of the countries seriously reconsider using their military contingents against Russia.” It is only about the insignificant event like the possible one Outbreak of the Third World War.
In a further classification, the ORF claims that the release of Western cruise missiles against Russia was in response to the presence of North Korean troops. “According to reports, US President Joe Biden has agreed to the use of long-range weapons against Russia in order to send a message to North Korea, which has allegedly sent soldiers into the conflict on Russia's side.” To what extent the use of cruise missiles against the Russian ones Kursk and Bryansk provinces send a message to North Korea is only understandable to hardened war fanatics who long for World War III.
